University of Basel invites applications for PhD positions in Biostatistics at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. The studentships are associated to a European Research Council (ERC) advanced grant that is aiming to develop Bayesian models for spatio-temporal data arising from disparate sources to address epidemiological questions in the area of infectious diseases in Africa.
Eligibility:
- Applicant must hold a diploma in Mathematics with a substantial statistical component, or biology or other related field followed by postgraduate qualification in Statistics.
- Applicants must have strong programming skills in R and Fortran or C++.
- Applicant must have excellent communication skills in English.
- Recipients will join a multi-disciplinary team that carry out research in advanced statistical modelling and Bayesian computation, applied in the area of malaria, neglected infectious diseases, mortality, cancer and environmental epidemiology.
- Recipients will be enrolled for a PhD degree at the University of Basel.
Duration and Stipend:
- provide support for 3 years and
- cover tuition-fees
- doctoral salary at Swiss National Science Foundation scale
