Ambedkar University Delhi was established by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi through an Act of Legislature in 2007 and notified in July 2008. Mandated to focus on research and teaching in the social sciences and humanities and guided by Dr Ambedkar’s vision of bridging equality and social justice with excellence, AUD considers it to be its mission to create sustainable and effective linkages between access to and success in higher education.
AUD is committed to creating an institutional culturecharacterised by humanism, non-hierarchical and collegial functioning, teamwork and nurturance of creativity. AUD has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with an ‘A’ grade.

Applications are invited from scholars, teachers, researchers and practitioners both in university and non-university environments. AUD has a special interest in interdisciplinary areas of study. We follow a system of appointing a teacher as faculty concurrently in more than one School or programme as per his/her expertise and interest and the needs of the University. Every teacher of the University is concurrently on the faculty of the School of Undergraduate Studies. AUD follows norms of appointment and services set by the UGC. Reservations are in accordance with the rules of the Government of NCT of Delhi. Conditions of service, incentives and allowances are similar to those in central universities. Appointments can also be made on deputation or on renewable contracts for fixed terms.
