CRITEVENTS: PhD /Postdoctoral researcher 1764 views

Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Department of Sociology at University of Amsterdam invites applications for 1 PhD candidate and 1 PhD candidate/Postdoctoral researcher – Norface project CRITEVENTS (Critical Life Events and the Dynamics of Inequality: Risk, Vulnerability, and Cumulative Disadvantage). The project will be carried out as a transnational research programme involving four institutions: University of Amsterdam, University of Oxford, Stockholm University, and University of Lausanne.

Requirements for CRITEVENTS:

• Applicant must have completed Research Master (for PhD candidates) or PhD (for postdoctoral researcher) in sociology, demography, or another relevant social science discipline;
• Applicant must have expertise in statistics and experience in analyses of large-scale data sets; Stata and/or R; analysis of complex survey data
• Applicant must possess good writing skills; analysis of register data
• Applicant must demonstrate good research and publication record relative to career stage;
• Applicant must demonstrate organisational and presentation skills (for postdoctoral position).

Duration: 3 years, starting on 1 September 2017; initial appointment will be for 12 months (PhD positions) or 24 months (postdoctoral position).
