The Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Biology of Ageing invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position in Bioinformatics. Applications are invited from talented, dynamic, highly motivated young scientist to join the research group ‘Chromatin and Ageing’ headed by Dr. Peter Tessarz. This position will allow for the development of own research directions and thus, would be most suitable for candidates interested in pursuing a scientific career.
Requirements:
- Applicant must have a strong background in the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data.
- Applicant must hold PhD or equivalent degree in a Biological, Computational or Mathematical subject.
- Applicants with a background in biology are expected to demonstrate a solid understanding of molecular biology and experience of computational techniques used in the analysis of biological data.
- Applicants from computational or mathematical backgrounds are expected to demonstrate applied computational experience along with demonstrable knowledge and experience of biological research.
- Applicants from both backgrounds must have a good understanding of statistical methods and their application to large data sets.
- Applicant must have with expertise in the analysis of NGS using available R-packages (e.g. Bioconductor); knowledge of programming languages such as Python is a bonus as is previous experience in analyzing Hi-C/4C data would be advantageous.
Duration: initially be time limited until 31st August 2019
