Dalhousie University Postdoctoral Fellowships: Department of Philosophy at Dalhousie University in Canada is offering Izaak Walton Killam Postdoctoral Fellowships. These fellowships are awarded annually at Dalhousie University.

The aim of the Izaak Walton Killam Postdoctoral Fellowship program is to attract recently graduated scholars in any discipline (within the past 2 years) of superior research ability to Dalhousie University, and to provide the candidate with the opportunity to establish themselves as productive members of the academic community.

Scholarship Award: 

  • A stipend of $45,000 would be given per annum.
  • The fellowship is fully funded.
  • It also includes a travel allowance for transportation to and from Halifax,
  • A one-time research allowance ($3,000) and
  • A conference travel grant ($1,000)

 Relocation Allowance:

  • The applicant would be provided travel grants to meet the cost of transportation, by the most direct route, from the place of residence at the time of being offered the award, to Halifax. Economy airfare for the Fellow and spouse will be given.
  • No allowance for the transportation of children or personal effects would be given

Eligibility criteria: 

  • The Fellowships are intended to attract new scholars to Dalhousie.
  • The scholars already at Dalhousie are not eligible to apply.
  • The applicants who fulfill the following criteria are not eligible to apply:
  1. Hold a PhD or JSD degree from Dalhousie or are currently completing a PhD or JSD degree at Dalhousie.
  2. Have held previously, or hold as of the application deadline (December 15), an academic or research appointment of any kind at Dalhousie or King’s College.
  3. Received his/her doctoral degree prior to January 2016
  4. If a Fellow holds another award valued at less than the Killam Postdoctoral Fellowship, the external award will be supplemented to the full Killam value as a “Honourary Killam Postdoctoral Fellowship”.
  • Applicants whose first language is not English are required to provide evidence of proficiency in English
