UGC – SCG Scheme: Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child For PG Programs by University Grants Commission (UGC)
Objectives
The objectives of the proposed scheme are:
1. To support post graduate education (masters) of single girl child in non-professional courses only.
2. To recognize the value of observance of small family norm.
Eligibility Conditions:
1. Girl students without having any brother or the girl student who are twin daughters/ fraternal daughter may also apply for scholarship under the aforesaid scheme. In a family if one son and one daughter is available then girl child will not be considered for scholarship under the scheme.
2. Girl students up to the age of 30 years at the time of admission in PG courses are eligible.
3. The scheme is applicable to such single girl child who has taken admission in regular, fulltime first year Masters Degree course in any designated university or a post graduate college. This scholarship is available to PG-I year student only.
Note: Admission to PG Course in Distance education mode is not covered under the scheme.
Application Procedure
- The candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions should apply online through UGC website (see below) against the advertisement to be published by the UGC once in a year through advertisement in leading newspaper and Employment News after obtaining admission in first year Post Graduate course in a recognized University/Institution/College.
