Postdoc fellow in Cancer Nanomaterials Research Group (CNRG), University of British Columbia (UBC)
Deadline: 29 June 2018
Overview
A position for a postdoc fellow is immediately available for a translational research project between the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and the School of Pharmacy (University of Waterloo).
The research is focused on developing a multimodal treatment option for prostate cancer treatment using gold nanoparticles synthesized from plant extracts.
Research Areas: The research involves nanomaterial synthesis/characterization, components of radiation physics, in-vitro studies and innovative nano-delivery technique on canine patients – an exciting multi-institution multi-disciplinary research with high translational potential.
Techniques used: The selected postdoc fellow is sought for driving these different components of the research for characterization of gold nanoparticles, extensive in-vitro studies with different cell lines, cytotoxicity studies, cellular imaging techniques, and uptake and bio-distribution of nanoparticles in small animals/dogs. The potential candidate will also be heavily involved in writing grant applications.
Both University of Waterloo and Grand River Hospital offer a unique world-class training environment and the opportunity to pursue cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research experience.
Required QUALIFICATIONS
- A recent Ph.D in biochemistry, nanomedicine, biomedical engineering, or a related field
- Have a strong record of peer reviewed publications and research experience.
- The ideal candidate should have expertise in material science, biochemistry and/or cellular imaging techniques.
- Experience with animal studies is a plus.
- High level of motivation and independence and the ability to think critically are expected.
- Candidates must have good written/oral communication skills in English.
- PhD candidates expected to graduate soon are also encouraged to apply.
Application Procedure: Interested eligible candidates should email a cover letter with a description of past research experience, a curriculum vitae (CV), copies of three (03) relevant publications, the names and email address of three (03) references, and expected availability date should be submitted via email to:
