The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems invites applications for a PostDoc/Team Leader “Molecular Biology” in cell culture-based vaccine production at the research group Bioprocess Engineering (headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Udo Reichl).
About the position:
- The candidate should be proficient in molecular/virological methods, such as cell transfection, cell line engineering (CRISPR/Cas), reverse genetics, real time PCR, Western Blot, and flow cytometry.
- The goal is to develop methods for better characterization of virus-host cell interaction (i.e. influenza virus, Modified Vaccinia Ankara virus, flaviviridae), to improve our understanding of intracellular virus replication, and to design animal cells lines for increased virus/viral vector yields.
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold PhD or an equivalent degree in a relevant discipline and a record of outstanding research that demonstrates originality addressing significant problems in cell culture technology and virology using state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques.
- Skills in the supervision of technicians and students are desirable.
- Close collaboration with the teams involved in upstream processing and mathematical modeling of virus dynamics is essential.
- Applicant must be fluent in English, proficiency in German is preferred.
Duration: 2 years; possibility of extension
How to apply:
- Apply by sending applications and following documents via email to sek-bpe@mpi-magdeburg.mpg.de:
- Motivation letter
- CV,
- Publication list with key papers highlighted
- The names and contact information of three possible contacts for reference letters.
