Postdoctoral position in Geoscience: Aarhus University 1534 views

The Department of Geoscience at Aarhus University invites application for a postdoctoral position in quantitative seismic interpretation to start as soon as possible.

About the position:
  • The selected candidate shall apply, develop and test quantitative seismic interpretation methodologies for extracting pre-drilling information of geothermal sedimentary reservoirs in terms of detailed lithological characteristics and rock physics.
  • The selected fellow will be part of a strong group of geoscientist and students at the Department of Geoscience working with seismic processing, modelling and interpretation as well as thermal modelling of geothermal reservoirs.
  • The group holds state-of-the-art seismic facilities and software such as Promax, Petrel, Paleoscan and OpendTect.
  • The project is to be carried out in close cooperation with The Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) and industrial partners.
  • It is a one-year position with the possibility of extension, when new project funding becomes available.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold a PhD degree in geophysics, geoscience, applied physics or related fields.
  • Applicant is expected to have significant experience in working with reflection seismic data from sedimentary environments.
  • Applicant must have high numerical and analytical skills in order to carry out seismic modelling and quantitative interpretation using modern seismic software systems.
  • Research results are to be developed to the level required for publication in high standard peer reviewed international journals.
