The Genome Centre Cologne at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ) in Cologne is seeking a Post–Doctoral Scientist to work in a state-of-the-art genomics service group.
About the position:
- The successful applicant is expected to implement new pipelines and protocols in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) using long read technologies (Pacific Biosciences, Oxford Nanopore Technologies) and to expand and adjust the method repertoire for Illumina sequencing, incl. single cell applications.
- The applicant is expected to be team-oriented with strong communication skills and to interact with the current lab manager on a daily basis.
- The candidate is expected to have thorough knowledge of wet-lab and an enhanced interest to apply robotic solutions for genomic applications.
- Applicant with bioinformatic skills in e.g. high-throughput data analysis would have advantage.
- Applicant must possess fluency in written and spoken communication English and German would be advantageous.
- Applicant must be flexible and highly motivated with a PhD in the life sciences and initial post-doctoral experience in genomics.
- Prior experience in working in a sequencing facility or other high-throughput service centre would be advantageous.
Duration: initially until the end of 2020
