PhD candidate in Food Bacteriology: NMBU 1755 views

The Department of Food Safety and Infectious Biology, Veterinary College at Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) is inviting applications for a a research fellow (PhD candidate) in the field of food bacteriology with a duration of 3 years.

About the position:

• The fellow must work on the project “Shining light on Listeria monocytogenes: The response of a non-phototropic bacterium to visible light”.
• The project is financed by strategic funding from MatInf and the duration is 3 years
• The project involves gathering more knowledge about how L. monocytogenes reacts to light. The project is a collaboration between research groups at the NMBU Veterinary College, the Veterinary Institute, the Directorate for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety and the Nordic Institute for Dentistry.
• It involves experts in molecular biology, food microbiology, bioinformatics, mass spectrometry and photobiology.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Veterinary Medicine or similar. Candidates who complete their education during the spring semester 2019 can also apply.
• Good grades from previous studies
• Good skills to communicate both in Scandinavian language and English.
• It is desirable to have knowledge and experience in microbiology; experience from working with molecular biology methods; knowledge in bioinformatics.
