Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS gGmbH), Germany invites application for PhD and Postdoc Positions 2019 from eligible and interested candidates.

Overview

HITS was established in 2010 by the physicist and SAP co-founder Klaus Tschira (1940-2015) and the Klaus Tschira Foundation as a private, non-profit research institute. HITS conducts basic research in the natural sciences, mathematics and computer science, with a focus on the processing, structuring, and analyzing of large amounts of complex data and the development of computational methods and software.

Research Area- Chemistry, physics or any related discipline. Research group is looking for highly motivated researchers to join the CCC group and work on one of several available research projects in computational chemistry, including graphene-based materials, metal-free catalysis, molecular electronics and fundamental physical-organic chemistry.

Eligibility/Qualification

  1. PhD candidatesshould have a Master’s degree in chemistry, physics or a related discipline, and, preferably, experience in chemical modelling and numerical simulations.
  2. Postdoc applicantsshould have a PhD in computational or theoretical chemistry or materials science, with a strong background in molecular (DFT, high-level ab initio) or condensed phase modelling (e.g., periodic DFT).

Newly established Computational Carbon Chemistry (CCC) research group at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS gGmbH) seeks to fill one PhD and one postdoctoral position (m/f/d) to work on computational modelling of functional organic materials.
