2 Postdoc positions: Experimental Nuclear Physics 896 views

The School of Engineering Sciences and the Department of Physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology is offering 1-2 postdoctoral positions in Experimental Nuclear Physics, with a focus on high-resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy of atomic nuclei far from stability and preparations for experiments within the NUSTAR science programme at the international research facility FAIR.

About the project:

The project has two main focus areas:

1. high-resolution spectroscopy of exotic atomic nuclei and preparations for experiments with the DESPEC Germanium Array Spectrometer (DEGAS) and
2. the Advanced Gamma Tracking Array (AGATA). DEGAS and AGATA will be placed at the low-energy branch of the Super-FRS separator at the international Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR), Darmstadt, Germany

Qualifications:

• Candidates should hold a PhD in Experimental Nuclear Physics or a related subject, obtained not more than three years.
• Candidates may not have received their PhD from KTH.
• Qualified candidates shall have extensive experience with nuclear physics radiation detectors and data analysis tools for nuclear spectroscopy.
• A deep knowledge of data analysis for large scale experiments in nuclear structure physics is a special advantage.
• Applicants should be highly motivated to perform high-level fundamental research and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• An excellent command of the English language is required.
