Postdoctoral position: Electrochemistry for Energy Conversion 4607 views

The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral position in “Electrochemistry for Energy Conversion”. The group aims to utilize electrochemical methods coupled with surface science and other instrumental analysis techniques to investigate the links between surface and electrolyte properties and electrocatalytic activity. The focus is on reactions that are of interest for energy conversion, storage and utilization. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.

About the position:
  • The successful candidate will work in the field of electrocatalysis, employing electrochemical and materials science characterization techniques to investigate metal and metal-alloy catalysts for reactions of interest in energy conversion.
  • The primary focus will be on the oxygen reduction reaction, but oxygen and hydrogen evolution, as well as hydrogen oxidation reactions might be considered depending on circumstances and results.

Duration: 2 years with the possibility of extension

Requirements:

  • PhD in Electrochemistry, Catalysis, Surface Science, Physical Chemistry or related field
  • Excellent documented research record
  • Experience in instrumental analysis
  • Experience working with electrochemical cells, mass spectroscopy or FTIR, as well as surface science techniques, are an advantage
  • Readiness to learn and apply new techniques
  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary field and an international work environment
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

Applications:

  • Send applications preferably by email (as pdf document) with the subject “VC001” to viktor.colic@cec.mpg.de including:
  • Up-to-date CV
  • Cover letter with contact information of two references
  • List of publications
  • Short description of research conducted previously
