Doctoral Position in Medicine for Colorectal Cancer research

The Clinical Effectiveness Research group is approaching different topics in clinical effectiveness of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The group is responsible for several randomized trials related to colorectal cancer screening and gastrointestinal endoscopy. Further, epidemiologic studies on mammography and quality improvement of clinical service are conducted.

The vacant PhD position is funded by external grants for projects related to colorectal cancer, colorectal polyps and inflammatory bowel disease. The studies will utilize large Norwegian and Swedish databases containing persons with colorectal adenomas, inflammatory bowel disease (or both) and estimate the risk of colorectal cancer. The project involves different working packages within clinical epidemiology, risk prediction research and biostatistics.

A full-time position as PhD Fellow (SKO 1017) for 3 years is available at the Clinical Effectiveness Research group, Institute of Health and Society, University of Oslo.

The PhD Fellow will work at the Clinical Effectiveness Research group, Department of Health Management and Health Economics, Institute of Health and Society, University of Oslo, in cooperation with Telemark Hospital Skien and Oslo University Hospital, Oslo, Norway. The position will be part of a research team dedicated to the trials and affiliated projects within the frame of the research group. Qualifications

Applicants must hold a MD degree. It is preferable with clinical or paraclinical experience in gastroenterology or pathology. Applicants should be interested in clinical epidemiology and handling of large databases. The ideal candidate has a strong CV, experience in clinical medicine, methodological interest, an outstanding potential and genuine interest in clinical epidemiology and data analysis tools. Proficiency in a Scandinavian language is an advantage.

The research fellow must take part in the Faculty’s approved PhD program and is expected to complete the project within the set fellowship period.

The purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree. We are looking for qualified and motivated individuals.

The language of tuition will normally be Norwegian.
