Inspired Research (INSPIRE) for pursuing Doctoral Research at any recognized University India

Innovation in Scientific Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE), a Scheme of the Government of India, offers standing opportunity for pursuing Doctoral Research at any recognized University or Institute in India through Fellowships at the level same as National Eligibility Test (NET) qualified candidates.Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is being implemented by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) to strengthen the National Science and Technology base. One Component of the AORC Scheme in INSPIRE is focused on attraction of student to pursue doctoral degree in basic and applied sciences including engineering, medicine, agriculture, veterinary, pharmacy etc. after either masters’ degree in Science/ Applied Science/ Engineering or bachelor/ masters’ degree in Medicine.

Applications are invited from i) INSPIRE Scholars after completion of their post-graduation degree in Science areas and ii) University level First Rank holders in the Post-graduate Degrees in Basic/ Applied Sciences/ Engineering OR Graduate Degree in Medicine only at any recognized Indian University or Institute/ Statutory Body in India for award of INSPIRE FELLOWSHIP.

  1. INSPIRE Scholar having secured minimum 65% marks in aggregate at M.Sc. or Integrated M.S./ M.Sc.
  2. ii) 1st Rank Holder in each Post-Graduate (PG) level examinations in Basic/ Applied Sciences including Engineering Sciences, Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agricultural sciences and Veterinary Sciences from any recognized University and academic Institutions in India.

Similarly, 1st Rank Holders at the Graduate Level Examination in Medicine only conducted by a University/ Institution in India are also eligible to apply. 1st Rank should be of minimum batch size of 10 students in that university level examination with minimum aggregate of 60% marks of the entire course/ program.

These students shall also be eligible for admission to pursue full – time research, leading to Ph.D. in any Indian University/ National Institute/ National Laboratories in India. However, Students who are i) 1st Rank Holder in College including Autonomous College Examination, ii) obtained degree (s) through Distance Education Mode and iii) 1st Rank Holder in any specialization given at MSc 2nd last Year, are not eligible. Candidates who are only Indian Citizen and have acquired their eligibility for INSPIRE Fellowship in only the last year (2014) or Current year (2015) are eligible. However, students who are already enjoying Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) or higher position in any project need not to apply for this.

Merely having the eligibility does not guarantee of the Final offer of INSPIRE Fellowship. -2- 7 th Advertisement INSPIRE FELLOWSHIP FOR PURSUING DOCTORAL PROGRAMME IN SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CALL FOR APPLICATIONS ELIGIBILITY Already Provisionally or Finally selected students for INSPIRE Fellowship in any previous advertisement, need not to apply again, their application will be rejected. It offers financial support in the form of a Fellowship equivalent to NET/ GATE fellowship (Junior Research Fellowship / Senior Research Fellowship) and research grant to the candidate.

There is a provision of 1000 Final offers of INSPIRE Fellowships to be given every year to eligible students on first-cum-first basis and each Fellowship is tenable for a maximum period of five years, subject to the completion of their PhD degree whichever is earlier. This Fellowship shall not be available at MSc or MPhil or MTech level during pursing in any such Integrated MSc-PhD/ MPhil-PhD/ MTech-PhD courses. However, continuation of the Fellowship for once selected candidates is based on satisfactory performance certified by the institution as per stipulated GOI guidelines for such Fellowship. The Provisional selection shall be made on the basis of academic merit, choice of supervisor, Choice of Host Institution, and tentative area/topic of Research of the candidate, subject to the scrutiny of PhD admission and detailed research proposal at the time of Final Offer.

The Final selection for INSPIRE Fellowship shall be on the basis of academic merit of the candidate, confirmed PhD admission, Supervisor, Host Institution and the detailed Research Proposal after evaluation by Expert committee. The On-line application submissions will be commenced on 1st April each year (better to check on site for accurate information) and will be available up to 30th April. No Print out of Application copy needs to be sent to us. Incomplete or wrongly filled up application or application with lack of essential documents will summarily be rejected. Any legal proceedings in respect to any matter of claim or dispute arising out of this advertisement and / or application can be lodged only in Delhi Courts/ Tribunals/ Forums and Delhi Courts / Tribunal/ Forums only shall have the sole and exclusive jurisdiction to try any case / dispute.
