The University of Potsdam, Faculty of Science, and Department of Molecular Biology is inviting applications for 2 PhD positions in Plant Synthetic Biology to fill subject to funding commitment positions possibly by September 01st 2018.
The positions will have focus on genome editing. The PhD projects are set-in in ongoing research of the Department of Molecular Biology. The projects will focus on the implementation of various strategies with the aim to improve HDR-mediated knock-in frequencies and the development of a FACS-based high-throughput screening platform, respectively.
Requirements:
- Applicants must hold a MSc or equivalent degree in Plant Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or a similar field.
- Applicants must have knowledge and experience in molecular biology to perform wet-lab experiments and data analysis.
- Applicants must possess excellent communication skills in English (knowledge of the German language is not required).
- Applicants with prior experience with one or several of the following methods would hold advantage: Plant protoplast preparation and transfection, Protein purification, FACS (fluorescence-activated cell sorting), CRISPR/Cas
