The Erwin Schrödinger Center for Quantum Science and Technology (ESQ) is run by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) in partnership with the University of Vienna, the Vienna University of Technology and the University of Innsbruck, supported by the Austrian Ministry of Education, Science and Research and co-funded by the European Commission. ÖAW is inviting applications to fill 5 competitive two-year postdoc fellowships.
Study areas: Experimental and theoretical research focused on the foundations of quantum physics and quantum optics and technologies around quantum computing, simulation, many-body physics, communication, sensing and metrology and photons, ultra-cold atoms and molecules, trapped ions, nanodiamonds, superconductors, clusters and biomolecules, levitated nanoparticles, nanomechanical devices and hybrid quantum systems
Requirements:
- Applicant must be young experienced researchers with either a doctoral degree (to be completed before 31st of January 2019) or at least four years of full-time research experience by the time of the application deadline
- Fellowships are open to researchers of any nationality with an outstanding research track record in Quantum Science and Technology and with a background in Physics, Chemistry, Information Science, Mathematics, Biology or even Philosophy (interdisciplinary opportunities).
- Applicants must comply with the EU mobility rules, i.e. may not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) for more than 12 months in Austria in the 3 years immediately before the application deadline.
- The earliest possible employment will be mid- June 2019.
