The Max Planck Institute for Ornithology (MPIO) is inviting applications for a PhD position (m/f/d). The position is available to work in the department of Behavioural Neurobiology at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology (MPIO).
About the position:
- Songbirds are a model to study vocal communication.
- This project will monitor auditory and vocal activity of the forebrain of freely behaving birds using state-of-the art telemetric devices in combination with electrode arrays.
- The position is available for a period of three years.
Requirements:
- Candidates should have a background in in vivo electrophysiological recordings of animals, or a background in spike sorting/signal analysis, or a strong basis in related methodological approaches.
- Experience with MatLab or Python and/or an interest in computational neuroscience would be an advantage.
- Applicants with good communication skills and mobility next to a high commitment and curiosity about neuroscientific questions.
