10 PhD Positions: Research Training Group MIMENIMA 1171 views

The University of Bremen invites applications for 10 Full PhD Positions available at the Research Training Group MIMENIMA (DFG GRK 1860) in Micro-, meso- and macroporous non-metallic Materials: Fundamentals and Application offers. The candidates will be working for a doctorate in the Engineering Sciences (Dr.-Ing.) or the Natural Sciences (Dr.rer.nat.) commencing October 1st, 2019 for a duration of 3 years (fixed term).

Requirements:
  • Applications are open to highly motivated, outstanding and team-oriented graduate students (Master) graduating in 2019 (or graduating in 2018) with a sound background in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Computer Sciences and related areas to apply.

Research field covers the following subtopics and offers 10 multifaceted research projects:

  • Material Development: P 01/03 Plasmonic porous ceramics; P 02/03: Polymer-derived ceramics with graded structures for phase separation and catalysis
  • Process Analysis: P 03/03 NMR Methods for a comprehensive and fast characterization of mass transport and catalytic reactions in porous materials; P 04/03: Detection of colloid motion in deep bed filtration processes by means of Fast-X-Ray-Tomography (at TU Dresden); Basic Research Experiments For Mass Transport In Porous Materials; P 05/03: Investigation of dielectrophoretic effects in porous structures; P 06/03: Mass transport in graded monolithic catalyst supports for strong exothermal gas phase andv multiphase reactions.
  • Modelling and Simulation: P 07/03: Transport, separation and mixing of complex multiphase fluids in pores and porous membranes with varying surface activities; P 08/03: Simulation of structural changes of mesoporous films and layers during liquid infiltration and drying; P 09/03: Computer analysis of complex porous ceramic structures (computer science degree needed)
  • Special Application of Porous Ceramics: P10/03: Application of porous ceramics for phase separation in spacecrafts

Applications:

Applications with the required documents to be sent (reference number A 33/19) to mimenima@uni-bremen.de. (choose maximum of two projects) in one single electronic PDF-file:

  • a motivation letter reasoning the interest for a specific research project (max. 1 page)
  • Full CV (max. 2 pages) including contact details of 2 references
