Max Planck Institute for Medical Research invites applications for Two PhD positions and a Postdoc position in the group of Dr. Thomas Barends. The positions are funded by the European Research Council.
About the positions:
- Successful applicants will join an international, interdisciplinary team to work on the elucidation of the biosynthesis pathway of ladderane lipids. Ladderanes are highly unusual hydrocarbon moieties with linearly concatenated cyclobutane rings, found in the membranes of bacteria performing anaerobic ammonium oxidation (“anammox”).
Requirements:
- Applicants should hold a Master’s degree (a Ph.D. degree for the Postdoc position) or equivalent in chemistry, biochemistry or biology.
- The available topics are diverse but include iron-sulfur cluster proteins and lipidomics, so candidates with experience in these fields are particularly invited to apply.
Applications:
Application to be submitted via e-mail as a single PDF file including:
- Cover letter (explaining background and motivation),
- CV
- Complete transcripts for PhD candidates
- Names and addresses of one or more references
