The research group for Mathematical Statistics in the Department of Mathematics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has two openings for a PhD Position (75%, 3 years), or Postdoctoral Position (100%, 2 years) starting September 16, 2019 or later.
About the position:
- The successful applicants will work with Prof. Mathias Drton (md5@uw.edu) on methodological and theoretical problems in statistical analysis of complex multivariate data.
Study areas:
- graphical and causal models,
- issues of model selection, and
- algebraic aspects of statistical models.
Requirement:
- Master’s/PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Strong mathematical preparation and interest in Statistics
- Good computational skills (e.g., in R)
- Fluency in English (knowledge of German is not required)
Duration:
- PhD position: 03 years at 75%
- Postdoc position: 02 years
