2 Postdoctoral positions: Additive Manufacturing 1431 views

The Division of Materials and Manufacture, Department of Industrial and Materials Science at Chalmers University of Technology is inviting applications for 2-3 Postdoctoral positions in Additive Manufacturing. Candidates are expected to have adequate background to be able to address in particular pre-processing and design for AM, process development and materials characterisation, with adequate background in the AM technology, materials technology and process development.

Responsibilities:
  • The selected candidate will be working with the process and materials development of laser powder bed fusion with particular emphasis on design for AM.
  • The major responsibility as postdoc is to perform own research in a research group.
  • The position also includes teaching on undergraduate and master’s levels as well as supervising master’s and/or PhD students to a certain extent.
  • Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large.
  • The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.
  • Full-time temporary employment.
  • The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must hold PhD in Materials Science, Material Mechanics and/or Production Engineering.
  • The degree should generally not be older than three years.
  • Priority will be given to candidates with relevant background in additive manufacturing.
  • Skills in CAD, powder-bed fusion technology, materials characterisation, microscopy, etc., are considered as merits.
  • Candidates are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching and project management, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.
  • The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English. If Swedish is not the native language, he/she should be able to teach in Swedish on undergraduate level after two years.
