Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology and the Max Planck Research Group “Biological Clocks” invites applications for the PhD position in the 250 Genomes project and local adaptation in circalunar clocks.
The PhD project aims on the analysis of >250 Clunio genomes from several strains which differ in various aspects of their circalunar clocks. The goal is to recognize the genes controlling these differences.
Eligibility:
- Applicant must hold Master’s or equivalent in a biological discipline
- Applicant must have strong background in genomics or bioinformatics.
- Applicant must possess programming skills.
- Applicants with experience in comparative genomics, population genomics or quantitative genetics will have advantage.
- Applicant must be capable of communication and open to collaborate across projects in the group.
- Participation in project-related field and laboratory work is very welcome.
Duration: The position will be offered for 3 years with the possibility of extension.
Starting date: between January and July 2017.
