The Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) is inviting applications for a number of dedicated, highly qualified postdoctoral researchers. The positions are available in the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant “Origins” which aims to connect planet-forming disks with the properties of giant planets (PI: Th. Henning).
About the positions:
- 3 year postdoc position: Search for and characterization of young giant planets with adaptive optics assisted observations including the development of innovative data reduction tools.
- 5 year senior postdoc position: Development of a comprehensive model connecting the physics and chemistry of protoplanetary disks with the composition and spectra of giant planets.
- 5 year senior postdoc position: Development of a molecular ice experiment to study the evolution of volatile ices under conditions typical of protoplanetary disks.
- MPIA provides funds for publications, travel and computer equipment.
Requirements:
- Applicants should have a PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics or a closely related field.
