The Science Foundation Ireland Centre for Research Training in Advanced Networks for Sustainable Societies (ADVANCE CRT) is focused on Future Networks and the Internet of Things with applications in sustainable and independent living is now recruiting the first cohort of 30 talented and enthusiastic PhD students to start in September/October 2019.

About the ADVANCE CRT:
  • The CRT is a partnership between five Irish Universities, University College Cork, Cork Institute of Technology, Maynooth University, Trinity College Dublin and TU Dublin
  • Irish-based industry including companies such as Nokia, Intel, DellEMC, u-blox, Vodafone, UTRC, Johnson Controls, Jaguar Land Rover, Taoglas, Decawave, Shimmer, Independent Living Ireland and local authorities and NGOs such as Dublin and Cork City Councils, Rehab Group and Enable Ireland.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must at least hold a 2.1 honours undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Applied Psychology, Social Science or a closely related area.
  • Non-native English speakers are required to hold a valid IELTS certificate demonstrating at least a score of 6.5 overall with a score of not less than 6 in all parts.
  • Applicants should be interested not only in the technical aspects of hyper-connectivity but also in its social implications and the opportunities to support applications in sustainable and independent living that can make significant difference to society.

Funding:

  • Stipend: €18,500 (tax free)
  • Tuition fee: €5,500 per annum

Duration of funding: up to 4 years
