The International Research Training Group 1956 “Cultural Transfer and ‘Cultural Identity'” at University of Freiburg is inviting applications for 4 PhD positions as Research Assistants (w / m / d). The positions are part-time (65%) commencing from 01.10.2019 for duration of three years. The International Research Training Group 1956 “Cultural Transfer and ‘Cultural Identity’ is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Role and responsibilities:
  • The tasks of the doctoral candidates consist in the work on an independent research project (dissertation), in the participation in the international and interdisciplinary scientific work as well as in the qualification program of the International Research Training Group.
  • In addition to the doctoral positions, two places will be awarded to doctoral candidates who have their own funding and would like to associate themselves with the Kolleg.

Requirements:

  • A scientific university degree (Magister, Master, Staatsexamen, Diplom) completed with above-average success in one of the participating subjects with a literary-scientific, cultural-scientific, comparative, historical, media-scientific, art-historical, linguistic or philosophical focus;
  • A dissertation project in the thematic-methodological area of ​​the International Research Training Group;
  • Knowledge of German at least level C1 according to the European reference framework; Russian skills usually at least C1 level according to the European Framework of Reference.
  • Willingness to actively participate in the structured doctoral program, including joint colleges held twice a year (alternately in Moscow and Freiburg). This includes research stays of at least six months, of which at least three months at the Moscow partner university during the doctoral phase.
  • The financing of the stays abroad is secured.
