Groningen Research Institute for the Study of Culture (ICOG) and the Graduate School for the Humanities at University of Groningen is inviting applications for 5 PhD positions.

Duration: 4 years

ICOG has 5 Research Centres:

  1. The Research Centre for Historical Studies
  2. The Research Centre Arts in Society
  3. The Centre for International Relations Research
  4. The Centre for Media and Journalism Studies
  5. The Centre for Research of the Americas
Qualifications:
  • Applicant must hold master’s degree in one of the above mentioned areas with an excellent academic record
  • Applicant must demonstrate proven research abilities and affinity with the research topic
  • Applicant must possess excellent command of English and good academic writing skills.
Application:
  • Application to be submitted (in English) as a single PDF-file online and upload the following with application
  • Letter of motivation
  • A cover letter including introduction, motivation to conduct scientific research, and locating your research within one of the research groups
  • Full CV demonstrating academic excellence, including publications and presentations (if applicable), and a copy of the data page of passport
  • A certified copy or scan of MA diploma (or equivalent) and academic record
  • A research proposal, focusing on the central research question to be addressed and the proposed method of approaching and answering this question (1500 words, tables and references excluded, and a project title).
  • Names and contact details of two academic references.
