It is a new excellence scholarship introduced by the University of Alberta.

The University of Alberta also provides researching opportunities along with 388 undergraduate and 500 graduate programs.

Level of study: Master and Doctoral program

Subjects on offer: The sponsorship will be awarded in any Master’s or Doctoral degree subject offered by the university.

Scholarship value: $12,000

The scholarship is aimed at applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and are interested in pursuing graduate studies in Alberta.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicants must either be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident of Canada, or an international student
  • The applicant must be living in Alberta (student must have a current Alberta mailing address in Bear Tracks)
  • The applying candidate must have earned a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 or greater over the most recent 15 units of course weight
  • The candidate must be registered as a full-timer during the tenure of the fellowship Fall 2019 and/or Winter 2020
  • The holders must be registered in years 1-4 of the master’s program or years 1-6 of the doctoral program during the tenure of the program
  • Applicants must have an admission average of 80% or higher on coursework.
  • International students must provide proof of efficiency in English
  • They should be good in reading, writing as well as speaking in English

How to Apply: 

The applicants need to first take admission to the university. After taking admission the applicant must complete the Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES) Student Declaration form and submit it to their home department by their internal deadline.
