Archaeology: Doctoral Fellowship, UiO, Norway 932 views

Doctoral Research Fellowship in Archaeology is available at the Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History, University of Oslo.

It is required that the themes of the proposed projects are relevant for ongoing research at the Department within Nordic Prehistory (Neolithic to Early Iron Age) or Mediterranean archaeology (Iron Age to Roman Republic). It is an advantage if the proposed project is interdisciplinary in scope and approach (e.g. towards science, ecology, geography, technology or anthropology).

Offer:

The appointment is for duration of three years. All PhD Candidates who submit their doctoral dissertation for assessment with a written recommendation from their supervisor within 3 years or 3 ½ years after the start of their PhD position, will be offered, respectively, a 12 or 6 month Completion Grant.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in archaeology.
  • Master’s Degree has to have been achieved by the time of application.
  • Personal suitability and motivation for the position.
  • The project’s scientific merit, research-related relevance and innovation.
  • The applicant’s ability to complete research training.
  • Good collaboration skills and an ability to join interdisciplinary academic communities.
  • Applicants who have recently graduated with excellent results may be given preference.

Scholarship:

  • Salary level 50 – 56 (NOK 430 500 – 475 400, depending on qualifications).
  • Professionally stimulating working environment.
