Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP): Training 2002 views

The Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) is a signature program of the East-West Center as it offers excellence for leadership education in Asia Pacific. The program connects advanced and interdisciplinary analysis of emergent regional issues with observed leadership learning.

The East-West Center encourages better relations and understanding among people and nations of Asia, US, and the Pacific through cooperative study, research, and dialogue. The Center is an independent, public, nonprofit organization with funding from the U.S. government, and additional support provided by private agencies, individuals, foundations, corporations, and governments in the region.

Calls for the application for 2019- 2020 Asia Pacific Leadership Program Fellowship competition is open now.

Deadlines

  • Early Application Deadline: November 15, 2019.

Fellowship: Fellowship covers majority of program fees, provision of learning materials, traveling to most off-site locations, and excursions, specialized workshops, and health insurance.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Candidates must have minimum a 3-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited US College/University/a recognized institution of higher learning abroad. Equivalency is determined by the University of Hawai’i.
  2. Candidate must show a demonstrated commitment to promoting peace and prosperity in Asia Pacific region, and a keen interest in experiential leadership development training.

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Professional work experience and achievement is a plus.
  2. Volunteer and community service experience
  3. Leadership track record in professional, public, or personal areas
  4. International experience and aptitude, including abroad residence,  language proficiency, intercultural and diversity exposure
  5. Asia Pacific engagement: evidence of knowledge of the region, as well as a demonstrated commitment to its future prosperity. This might include employment in the region, classes taken at University, languages spoken, memberships and fellowships, specific projects, field studies, and areas of research interest
  6. Experience of group learning, working collaboratively in small teams or in large groups.
