Assistant Professor in Sedimentology at VU Amsterdam: Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is home to more than 23,000 students. The department of Earth Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam invites online applications from eligible outstanding researcher in sedimentology and/or related fields with an innovative view on sedimentary systems for filling up the Assistant Professor position in sedimentology that will strengthen the research team to develop new lines of research within the field of sedimentology with a strong commitment to lab and field based research. The position also involves teaching in sedimentology and sub-surface oriented courses and supervision of BSc and MSc research projects.

Location: AMSTERDAM.

Salary: € 3,637. – and a maximum € 4,978,- in accordance with salary scale 11.

Educational qualifications: Interested candidates should have doctoral degree (Ph.D. degree) in the Earth Sciences or comparable, with proven proficiency in sedimentology with experience in teaching in the field of Earth Sciences and current expertise in biogenic carbonates, stable isotopes and/or geochronology is must. Candidates should be able and motivated to carry out creative research in the field of sedimentology and publish their research results in high-profile journals. Candidates are needed with C1 level in both Dutch and English on the longer term.
