ASTAR: PhD and Postdoc poisition, Chemistry
One Ph.D student and one postdoc research position is available for a project funded by Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR)
Research area: Work focuses on synthesizing, characterizing, modeling, & simulating the thermo-mechanical behavior of polymers with covalent adaptable networks (CANs), for example vitrimers.
PhD position:
- The PhD student will be supported by the SUTD-NUS Joint PhD programme,
- Student will be registered with both National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD),
- Selected candidate will be guided by academic staff from both universities and examined to the standards of both universities..
Core areas: PhD student can contribute to one or more of the key areas of the program –
- Synthesis, characterisation, modelling, and simulating.
- The selected PhD student will be advised by Prof. Martin Dunn & Prof. Kevin Ge Qi at SUTD, and Prof. Shailendra P. Joshi from NUS.
Postdoc position: The selected post-doc candidate will
- Lead the synthesis and characterization of CAN polymers and
- Studying their reprocessing and recycling behavior.
- Synthesizing materials & fabricating samples, characterising them using standard analysis techniques,
- Developing new test approaches and instruments to characterize the behavior of bonded and reprocessed samples.
Requirements:
- PhD in Materials Science, Civil engineering, Mechanical engineering, or related fields.
- The candidate with strong written skills and oral communication.
- Demonstrated in the form of publications in reputed journals
