BIH Short-term Fellowships enable young early-career scientists (until two years after completing their PhD) from abroad to spend a short research stay at the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) thus positioning the foundations for an academic career in Germany.
Purpose of the fellowship:
- It is meant as an opportunity to conduct a clearly defined research project in the life sciences and to simultaneously prepare longer-term activities in Berlin by applying for further funding.
Target Group:
- The fellowship is dedicated to young junior scientists from abroad (until two years after completing their PhD)
Number of Scholarships offered: about 10 scholarships every year
Tenure: up to 12 months
Fellowship Value:
- Research grant: EUR 2,500/month
- entitled to hold the designation of ‘BIH Short-term Fellow’
- travelling allowance for the journey to and from Berlin may also be granted
Application requirements
- Applicant must provide detailed information on:
- academic record
- CV
- list of publications
- research proposal
- expert opinion by the BIH or the host unit at the Charité or MDC on the potential fellow’s qualification
- confirmation that a suitable post in the research facility as well as the required infrastructure are available
