PhD position is open in biophysics, biopolymer physics or bio-nanotechnology, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, Department of Physics at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

This position is funded by the Research Council of Norway. Title of the project is “Dynamics of coupled processes in responsive soft (bio) polymer materials” The appointment has a duration of 3 years with the possibility of one year extension with 25% teaching duties in agreement with the Department.

About the Project:

PhD fellow will work within a project with the goal to increase the understanding of coupled processes in responsive (bio) polymere hydrogels. The research will aim on determination of mechanisms of dynamics of responsive soft (bio) polymer materials. The experimental approaches include preparation of various hydrogel entities; spatiotemporal characterization of the different processes utilizing various fluorescence based imaging techniques, and high resolution interferometry.

Qualifications Required:

  • Master’s in Biophysics/Bio-nanotechnology/Biomaterials or related areas.
  • This position needs competence underpinning the successful realization of the project, like within the relevant responsive materials, methods for their characterization, data analysis and interpretation.
  • The successful applicant must be highly knowledgeable, motivated, determined and with excellent English proficiency.
  • The regulations for PhD program at NTNU requires Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 5 years of studies and an average grade of A or B (scale of A-E) for passing grades for the two last years of the M.Sc is required. C or higher of the B.Sc.
