JOB DESCRIPTION:

Research Duties

Develop new enzyme linked immunosorbent assays and teach trainees on how to complete an ELISA.  The candidate should have good knowledge of immunology, understand the process by which the ELISA procedure works, and the incumbent should know how to properly collect, store and process or if necessary, extract the samples for measurement.

Laboratory skills: The incumbent will supervise the general operation of the laboratory i.e. supervise and teach OPS students and residents in the conduct of research, especially in the good care of animals and the safe and proper use of laboratory methods.  Maintain and keep records on all laboratory equipment and machinery. 

ADVERTISED Fellowship / SALARY: $35,000 – $38,000 annually

REQUIREMENTS:

1.    Doctoral degree in biology or a closely related field and two years of relevant experience; or

2.    Master’s degree in biology or a closely related field and five years of relevant experience; or

3.    Bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related field and seven years of relevant experience.    

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-GLP training and experience
-Knowledge of laboratory procedures and practices including the principles of chemical analysis
-Knowledge of the safe use, storage, and disposal of hazardous compounds
-Knowledge of the care and management of animals
-Computer skills in word processing, graphics, photo management and editing, database, spreadsheet, analytical and statistical software
