Biotechnology research positions: The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) was established in 1987. It is an international, inter-governmental research institute considered as a Centre of excellence for research and training with special regard to the needs of the developing world. The Centre conducts advanced research in life sciences and strengthens the research capability of its over 60 Member States through training, funding programs and advisory services. The center is located in Trieste (Italy), New Delhi (India) and Cape Town (South Africa), and in association with over 40 Affiliated Centres worldwide, the 3 ICGEB Components provide a scientific and educational environment of the highest international standards.

Biotechnology Projects include:

Position 1: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position is available at the Omics of Algae Group and DBT- ICGEB Centre for Advanced Bioenergy Research.

Title of the project: “Multi-Omics in Microalgae (MOMICs): Tools and Pipelines for Data Integration and Visualization of Big Data” – Funded by DBT, Ministry of Science & Technology.

Principal Investigator (PI): Dr. Pavan Jutur

Required qualifications for JRF:

  1. First-class M. Sc./B. Tech./M. Tech. in Computational Sciences/ Bioinformatics or any other relevant field.
  2. Candidates with DBT-JRF (Cat-II)/NET/GATE will be given preference.

Desirable: Applicants must have:

  1. Proven experience of high throughput data analysis, database/website development, Python/ PERL, PHP/HTML and MySQL/Oracle.
  2. Experience in BIG data analytics is desirable.
