Applications are invited for 2 PhD positions in Claus Storgaard Sørensen’s group at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. The position is for highly motivated researchers with an aspiration to unravel new synthetic lethal interactions to target breast and ovarian cancer. The positions are part of a newly established European training network, SYNTRAIN.
Projects:
Project 1: The project aims to Identify DNA nucleases and helicases, whose depletion is lethal only in combination with cancer-specific BRCA2/TP53 deficiency.
Project 2: The project aims to eradicate BRCA1/2 deficient cancer cells through inhibition of epigenetic enzymes.
Start date: Preferably 1 January 2017 or after agreement.
Tenure: 3 years as a PhD

Qualifications required:
- Applicant must hold MSc in biology, biochemistry or similar
- Applicant must have experience in cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry
- Applicant must be keen to make a difference through highly dedicated research
- Applicant must possess good communication skills in English (written and spoken)
Additional requirements
- Applicant must be in the Ist four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers after the Master degree, and they must not yet received a PhD degree at the time of the appointment.
- Applicant can be of any nationality but must not have stayed or carried out their main activity in Denmark for more than a year in the 3 years immediately prior to the start date of the fellowship.
