British Society for the Philosophy of Science: Doctoral Scholarship 923 views

The British Society for the Philosophy of Science is offering a PhD scholarship for doctoral work in the philosophy of science at a UK university. The scholarship award depends on candidate to presenting sufficient merit themselves.

Subject areas: degree programmes in Philosophy or in Philosophy of Science

Scholarship value:

  • Scholarship will cover UK/EU fees at Research Council rates
  • International fees will be covered in part or in full (depending on the case) but will be covered at least up to UK/EU levels.
  • Maintenance grant: £14,057; £15,590 in London

Requirements:

  • Applications are welcome from both UK/EU and international students.
  • Scholarship is open to programme in philosophy of science at a UK university in time for the start of the next academic year.

Applications:

Doctoral scholarship applicants to be sent as a single PDF:

  • CV (max 2 sides of A4)
  • Research proposal (max. 750 words)
  • Statement that confirms either that the applicant is not eligible for AHRC funding or that they have taken the necessary steps to be considered for such funding; how much other funding, (if any) the applicant has already secured; and other sources of funding have been applied for and the dates by which they will hear whether these applications have been successful.
  • Acceptance onto an appropriate doctoral programme
  • Supervisor Submission: proposed supervisor must send a short statement to the Honorary Secretary (max. 500 words) explaining why they are happy to supervise the applicant on the proposed project and how and why the supervisor’s institution is a good fit for the person and project
  • 2 References (academic referees)
