The Department of Behavior and Brain Organization at CAESAR is inviting applications for a PhD candidate with a background in biochemistry or biophysics. This position was granted by the DFG in the framework of an SFB (SFB 1089 “Synaptic Micronetworks in Health and Disease”.
Requirements:
- Applicant must have strong background in protein biochemistry and/or biophysics and will be involved in the expression, purification and subsequent characterization of fluorescent calcium sensors.
- The candidate will use a number of biophysical techniques like fluorescence spectroscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry and fast kinetic approaches to determine the fluorescence changes of the indicator in response to calcium.
- Selected candidate will also design and optimize sensor constructs (mutagenesis, cloning, virus production) and work in close collaboration with colleagues in the department of Behavior and Brain Organization.
- Qualified candidates all over the world are invited to submit their application
