The School of Microbiology at University College Cork is inviting applications for two Research Assistant positions in CHASSY project (EU-funded Horizon 2020 project) in Dr. Morrissey research group. The project is entitled “Model-Based Construction and Optimisation of Versatile Chassis Yeast Strains for Production of Valuable Lipid and Aromatic Compounds”.
About the positions:
- Successful candidate will work on: Characterisation of engineered cell factory strains in laboratory-scale bioreactors; Application of synthetic biology approaches to engineer yeast strains; Analysis of large datasets (mainly derived from RNA-Seq and Ribo-Seq) using bioinformatics tools; Engineering yeast strains to enhance robustness
Duration: 12 months
Requirements:
- Applicant must have qualifications e.g., BSc or an MSc, employed on a contract for the purpose of assisting in the performance of research in the University.
- A Research Assistant will usually work under the direction of one or more Principal Investigator’s/Senior Researchers within a dedicated laboratory on one or more research projects.
