EAWAG, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, is inviting applications for Computer Scientist position for Environmental science. The position is available in Aquatic Physics Group (APHYS) in the Department of Surface Water Management and Technology (SURF) and the Scientific Computing group (SC) at the Department of System Analysis, Integrated As-sessment and Modelling (SIAM).
About the position:
- work as Computer Engineer interested in applied environmental science
- develop and deploy a platform based on data science oriented Renku framework
- design and implement data repository and storage solution compatible with machine learning ac-tivities
- develop the visualization portal
- interface and collaborate with Computer and Environmental scientists
Requirements:
- knowledge in computer science fundamentals with strong interest in data science
- experience in Python and scripting and comfortable using Git / GitLab
- experience with containers technology
- comfortable with Linux platform
- data repository experience and software building is a plus
Duration: The position is available for one year.
Starting date (preferred): June 2019.
