Cornell University invites applications for a postdoctoral associate position in the Bioinformatics Facility’s Biotechnology Resource Center.
About the position:
- Selected postdoc is expected to work full time on the bioinformatics data analysis of genomic data generated from the Vitisgen project, including but not restricted to whole genome de novo assembly of multiple grape germplasms, whole genome alignment, construction of pan-genome graph and pan-genome graphs based genetic marker development for breeding, as well as QTL mapping.
- Postdoc will be associated with a team of experimental biologists who will generate data and verify the results, grape breeders from multiple wine, table and raisin grape breeding programs across the US.
- There will be opportunities for the incumbent to improve bioinformatics data analysis skills and gain experience on many different large-scale biological platforms data analysis, by learning from an active genomics and plant breeding community at Cornell.
Qualifications Requirements:
- Applicant must hold PhD in Bioinformatics, Plant Breeding or a related field
- Applicant must have some experience in statistical analysis of high throughput genomics or functional genomics data.
- Applicant must possess excellent communication skill to work in this collaborative project.
Preferred Skills (Desired but not required)
- Skills must include computer programming with at least one language, R statistical package especially in the area of quantitative genetics.
