The Department of Mathematical Sciences and Technology (IMT) has a permanent, full-time position available for an Associate Professor in Data Sciences (Big Data). The position is part of the University’s programme for the recruitment of top researchers, which aims to recruiting an internationally leading, early-career researcher with a high potential for NMBU.
Responsibilities and tasks involved:
- teaching courses in Data Sciences
- supervising master’s and PhD students
- Very high quality research
- Development of research field and group
- Planning and implementing research projects, including applications for external funding
- Academic and popular propagation of the field and research results
Qualifications:
- Applicant must have published research work internationally and is of very high quality.
- Applicant must have some experience from securing external research funding, especially from the Research Council of Norway and the EU.
- Applicant must hold PhD degree in a relevant field related to Data Sciences (Big Data).
- Applicants who are non-speakers of Norwegian, Danish or Swedish must promise to learn Norwegian within 2 years.
- Applicant must have a at least 3-5 years of research experience after their PhD degree.
- Applicant must demonstrate curiosity, independence and the ability to innovate.
- Applicant must have fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Desired qualifications: applicant must have research experience from data analysis within Life Sciences and Environmental Sciences.
