Doctoral Position in Astronomy at Lund University: The Faculty of Science organizes research and education within Biology, Astronomy, Physics, Geosciences, Mathematics, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. The Department of Astronomy and Theoretical Physics are centred around three main fields: Astronomy and Astrophysics; Theoretical Particle Physics; and Computational Biology and Biological Physics. Department of Astronomy and Theoretical Physics is offering applications from eligible candidates for filling up PhD position in astronomy and astrophysics available at the Department of Astronomy and Theoretical Physics.

About the Position: Selected candidates will work with Oscar Agertz on the topic of galaxy formation and evolution in a cosmological context to carry out numerical simulations of galaxies with a focus on chemo-dynamical evolution in the context of future and ongoing surveys such as Gaia, APOGEE, WEAVE and 4MOST. They will work within the inspiring environment at Lund Observatory, which currently hosts 35 scientific staff, including postdocs, and 15 PhD students.

Fellowship: As per norms.

Duration: 4 years full-time, fixed-term employment

Educational qualifications: Interested and eligible candidates must have master’s degree in astronomy, physics or in other ways obtained the equivalent qualifications. Candidates must have creative problem-solving ability, to take responsibility for and finish projects independently and to have stamina and Good knowledge in spoken and written English.
