Doctoral Position in Biology at Lund University: The Faculty of Science organizes research and education within Biology, Astronomy, Physics, Geosciences, Mathematics, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. Lund University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology is offering applications from eligible candidates for filling up doctoral position in Biology to develop computational fluid structure interaction models of bird feathers. The models will be developed based on a combination of experimental and numerical approaches. This position is available at the Department of Biology at LU but is a collaboration with researchers at Lund Technical University.
About the Position: The aim of this project is to study how aerodynamically efficient passive aerodynamic control mechanisms of flight feathers are, using computational experiments and further use gained knowledge in studying and designing new wing concepts for aircraft and wind turbine energy industries.

Duration: full-time, fixed-term employment
Educational qualifications: Interested and eligible candidates must have master’s degree in biology with relevant knowledge in mechanics and/or fluid dynamics and experience with FSI, CFD or CSM. Candidates must have creative problem-solving ability, to take responsibility for and finish projects independently and to have stamina. Candidates with High grades in courses regarding material science and fluid dynamics will be preferred.
