The Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of doctoral student. The appointment is for a fixed term (1 September 2019–30 August 2022).

About the position:
  • The duties of the doctoral student include dissertation work and the completion of doctoral studies.
  • The student will carry out research related to education in the Connected Classroom Nordic (CCN) project.
  • CCN is part of the Nordic Centre of Excellence: Quality in Nordic Teaching (QUINT), funded by NordForsk.
  • The purpose of the Connected Classroom Nordic project is to explore quality in teaching by bringing together researchers, teachers and pupils in a collaborative, video-based longitudinal study with a focus on the digitalised classroom in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland.
  • The appointee must have good cooperation skills and the ability to conduct research independently.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold a master’s degree in education or another subject, relevant for the position.
  • A degree with a specialisation in the digitalisation of education or the professional development of teachers, or documentation of experience in these areas is considered a merit. Specialisation in other research areas relevant to QUINT is also considered a merit.
  • Applicant is expected to possess good oral and written skills in Finnish or Swedish and good English skills. Fluency in another Scandinavian language is considered a merit.
