The Doctoral Program in Architecture & Technology is focused on the training of scholars in the fields of engineering, science and technology in architecture, with a emphasis on architecture, building engineering and digital and computational technologies.
Number of places: 3 full-time (100%) PhD positions
Starting date: October 1, 2018
Duration: funding for 3 years; possibility of extension for up to 6 additional months
About the Program
- The PhD program in Architecture and Technology is a highly interdisciplinary, offered and managed jointly by the chairs at the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA) at the department of Architecture (D-ARCH), ETH Zurich.
The following professors/chairs are currently involved in A&T PhD program. Successful applicants will join one of these chairs:

Requirements:
- The application process is highly competitive.
- Applicant must be excellent young researcher with a background in engineering and technology, as well as architects with experience in research and an interest in relating building technology or engineering to building practice.
- Applicant’s research interests and directions must be matched to one of the mentioned research groups.
- Applicant must hold a Master’s degree obtained at university level (equivalent to the FHEQ-Level 7) in architecture, engineering or related fields

- Letter of motivation describing future career intentions, reasons for wanting to pursue a PhD in Architecture & Technology at ETH Zurich, arguments why applicant would be a good candidate and how the background has prepared them for doctoral studies.

- Research statement (maximum 3 pages)
- 3 letters of recommendation.
- Referees must send their recommendation letters directly
- CV, including a publication list and a portfolio or related work samples
