The Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science (FLoV) at the Faculty of Humanities at University of Gothenburg is inviting applications for a Doctoral student in Computer Linguistics.

Research areas:

• Type theory (or logic) and probability theory
• Machine learning including Deep Learning and neural networks
• Theorem Proof and Bayesian Reasoning
• Formal models for dialogue and linguistic interaction
• Combinations of logical methods and machine learning
• Models that combine language and perception

Requirements:

• Applicant must have completed a degree at advanced level, completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at advanced level, or in some other way within or outside the country has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge.
• For special eligibility for postgraduate education in computer linguistics, the following is also required: At least 30 higher education credits at advanced level in subject area 1 (computer linguistics, language technology or linguistic data processing), of which at least 15 higher education credits consist of independent work, or equivalent knowledge OR
• At least 30 higher education credits at advanced level in subject area 2 (linguistics or cognitive science), of which at least 15 higher education credits consist of independent work, and at least 30 higher education credits at undergraduate or advanced level within subject area 1 (computer linguistics, language technology, or linguistic data processing (3). computer science, logic or mathematics) or equivalent knowledge OR
• At least 30 higher education credits at advanced level in subject area 3 (computer science, logic or mathematics), of which at least 15 higher education credits consist of independent work, and at least 30 higher education credits at undergraduate or advanced level within subject area 1 (computer linguistics, language technology or linguistics 2). • Knowledge of English is needed to be able to assimilate compulsory course elements and actively participate in seminars.
