The School of Engineering Sciences at KTH Royal Institute of Technology is inviting applications for a Doctoral student in Nanophotonics.
About the project:
- As part of this initiative KTH are strengthening the efforts to develop technology for new functional nano-waveguide structures for quantum technology. The structures will be made from III-V semiconductor material, and the main emphasis will be on efficient generation of photon-pairs in polarization-entangled states.
- Apart from quantum optics, the project includes fundamental studies of the optical nonlinearity in semiconductor-based nanostructures, simulations, cleanroom fabrication, and the experimental evaluation and analysis.
Duration: 04 years with a possibility of maximum up to five years
Eligibility
- Applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering with a specialization in optics, photonics, laser physics or quantum mechanics.
- Experience in clean-room processing and /or electromagnetic field simulation is regarded as advantageous qualification.
Applications:
Apply online and applications must include the following elements:
- CV including your relevant professional experience and knowledge.
- Application letter with a brief description of why the candidate wants to pursue research studies, about what the academic interests are and how they relate to his/her previous studies and future goals. (Maximum 2 pages long)
- Copy of the degree certificate(s) and transcripts of records from previously attended university-level institutions. Translations into English or Swedish if the original documents are not issued in one of these languages.
- Representative publications or technical reports (for longer documents, please provide a summary (abstract) and a web link to the full text).
